Tech Task #5

One of my go to resources for the grade 3/4 class I was recently placed in was "Cosmic Kids". This website was introduced to me by the classroom teacher as they used it frequently for their meditation time. This was implemented in their (almost) daily schedule. The kids absolutely love it so this is why I thought it is a worthwhile share.

Here is the website:

This can be great to use on those indoor recess days. There are some really good yoga videos so they will be getting some good exercise as well.

You can find a lot of different resources on the website including this cool poster. It can be emailed to you so that the picture quality is not reduced. Here is what it looks like. I'm sure if your class enjoys watching her video's they would love this to be an addition on your classroom wall.

Pros and cons:
If you click on "WATCH the episodes" at the top of the webpage, you can find a list of the video they offer for free to watch. This website also has some free sample packs for lesson plans on mindfulness and yoga, but there is a fee for the rest of the lesson plans. There is an option to also download to app. By doing this you won't have to watch commercials and will also help fun their program. Unfortunately, this comes at a cost of 60 euros per year. So my suggestion is to get the best of the free stuff they offer because even though I think its super silly, the kids love it.

You might be thinking GoNoodle offers mindfulness videos as well so why not just use that? I do enjoy using GoNoodle in my classroom as well, but the kids really responded to Cosmic Kids Zen Den and they offer a huge selection of mindfulness videos as well as continuing to upload more for a larger selection. Their website offers advice about yoga and meditation, behind the scene action, incorporating mindfulness at home and so much more!

You might even be lucky enough for Jamie (the main instructor) to come visit your school! She recently did her first school surprise visit and the kids loved it. She is based in the United States, but you never know if she will want to come to Canada for a visit!

  1. Thanks for sharing this website! I am always looking for different things to try and switch it up from the everyday "regular" stuff. Kids can get bored easily, so having a tool belt of different websites and fun activities to try is always important! Mindfulness is also becoming so important, so the more we can implement it, the better!
